FORMAT & IDENTIFICATION

PRINTS

Each entry must bear the author’s name, a title and the class entered.
It is preferred that all prints be mounted using the standard size of 40cm x 50cm. Panoramic or larger mounts will be hung where space permits. Excluding the mount, a print should have a side measuring at least 25cm.

PROJECTED IMAGES

SLIDES should be in a 50mm square glass mount. They should have a coloured spot at the bottom left hand corner when viewed from the front and bear the authors name and a title.

DIGITAL IMAGESMay be captured by digital camera, digital scanning (by author or lab) off negatives, slides or prints.

The images will be projected by a Data Projector in landscape format at a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. Images must therefore, be no more than 1024 pixels wide and no more than 768 pixels high, including any border or frame around the image. If the image is less than the maximum in any direction, the canvas size should be enlarged to 1024 x 768 pixels and the unused area filled with black. It will then be seen to its best advantage when projected.

Images should be saved on a CD as ‘jpg’ or ‘jpeg’. Each CD must be clearly labelled with the authors name, contact telephone number and email address (if applicable), by using a permanent marker pen on the top surface. The filename of each must be the title as saved on the CD and be preceded by the image number as follows:

Image 01 (title) (class) (author initials)

Any author can submit six entries as slides or digital images as any combination in all categories. The following combinations are examples for illustration purposes.

3 slides and 3 digital images in natural history class or,
4 slides and 2 digital images in natural history class or,
1 panel of slides and 3 panels of digital images, (4 images per panel), in the panels class.
